Point Robinson, Vashon Island Engagement
If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels peaceful, scenic, and uniquely Pacific Northwest, Point Robinson on Vashon Island might just be the perfect spot.
I recently had the chance to photograph an engagement session there for a couple visiting from Los Angeles. She grew up in Seattle and wanted a location that felt like home — with salt air, driftwood, lush trees, and that beautiful easrly evening PNW light. Point Robinson checked all the boxes and more. They’re retuning next summer to Seattle to hold their wedding at Froggsong Gardens on Vashon.
Vashon Island for Engagement Photos
Getting to Vashon Island feels like an adventure in itself. A short ferry ride from Seattle drops you into what feels like a different world — quiet beaches, dense forests, and views that stretch across the Puget Sound. The beach at Point Robinson is especially beautiful, with a red-and-white lighthouse standing proudly along the shoreline and Mount Rainier rising in the distance on clear days (like the day of our shoot!).
We started the session along the driftwood-strewn beach, where they kicked off their shoes and walked barefoot along the shore. With the lighthouse in the background and the sound of waves nearby, the mood was calm and natural. J & R were relaxed and playful — exactly the energy I love to capture. I encourage all my couples to hold their engagement session at calm and quiet location so that they can relax and settle into the shoot.
As the evening light softened, we walked further down the beach for more quiet moments together. We ended with a few portraits near the lighthouse, with Mount Rainier glowing behind them. It’s hard to beat that kind of backdrop. We also paid a visit to Oscar – The Bird King during our session.
For couples considering a waterfront engagement session with all the Pacific Northwest vibes, Point Robinson is a hidden gem. You get so much variety — coastal scenery, a charming historic lighthouse, and if you’re lucky, a view of the mountain that makes it all feel magical. It’s perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants a setting that feels personal and peaceful.
