Senior Photos at Marymoor Park in Redmond
If you’re searching for the perfect backdrop for your senior photos in Seattle or on the Eastside, Marymoor Park in Redmond is one of the best spots you can choose. Just a short drive from Seattle, this park offers a mix of open fields, tree-lined trails, rustic fences, and river views that bring variety to your senior portraits—all in one session. I recently photographed a senior session here, and it reminded me why Marymoor is such a favorite location for both seniors and their families. I thought I would write a in-depth and helpful location guide for this park.
Why Choose Marymoor Park for Senior Photos
One of the biggest advantages of Marymoor Park is the variety of scenery within walking distance. If you want your gallery to include both natural and polished looks, this park delivers:
- Wide open fields for a light, airy style.
- Tall grasses and wildflowers in spring and summer for a natural, outdoorsy vibe.
- Tree-lined paths that look incredible in the fall when the leaves turn golden.
- Rustic wooden fences and river views for a timeless backdrop.
Another benefit is accessibility. Located in Redmond, Marymoor is easy to reach from Seattle, Kirkland, Bellevue, and the rest of the Eastside. If you don’t want to travel far but still want a location that feels special, this park is an excellent choice. There is plenty of parking and it never feels cramped that you feel you have to fight the crowd. This park is even great for early morning, and late afternoon walks especially if you have a furry friend. Be on the lookout all sorts of cute critters like bunnies and weasels.
Best Time of Year for Senior Photos at Marymoor
Marymoor Park works beautifully year-round, but each season has its highlights:
- Spring: Bright flowers and fresh greenery.
- Summer: Long days, tall grass, and golden sunsets.
- Fall: Rich colors in the trees and softer light.
- Winter: Minimalist backgrounds with bare trees and dramatic skies.
Most seniors prefer late summer or early fall for photos, when the weather is consistent and the lighting is especially flattering in the evenings.
What to Wear for a Session Here
Because Marymoor Park has mostly natural backdrops, solid colors and simple patterns tend to work best. Outfits in earth tones, neutrals, or soft pastels photograph beautifully against the greenery. If you’re planning multiple outfits, think about bringing both a casual look (like jeans and a sweater) and a dressier option (a long dress, button-up, or jacket). I also recommend bringing comfortable shoes since we’ll be walking through trails and fields. For female students, I highly encourage a long dress which photographs very well in the open fields with the golden glow of the late summer months. Just look at Arielle’s photos below.
A Relaxed Senior Session Experience
This senior session I photographed here was all about capturing natural, authentic moments. We explored a few of my favorite hidden corners of the park, and the mix of scenery gave us a wide range of portraits without feeling rushed. Seniors love this location because it feels relaxed—you can laugh, walk, and be yourself without worrying about crowds or distractions. You can even bring your dogs as Arielle did for this session.
Plan Your Seattle Senior Photos
If you’re a high school senior on the Eastside of Seattle or in the city itself, Marymoor Park is a location worth considering for your senior session. Its natural beauty, easy access, and variety of backdrops make it one of my most recommended spots.
