Sally and Kurt’s summer wedding on Vashon Island was both memorable and beautiful! They exchanged vows at the lovely Vashon Field and Pond wedding venue, surrounded by their loved ones and breathtaking views. With the majestic Cascade Mountains, the serene waters of Puget Sound, the iconic Mount Rainier visible in the distance, and the venue of Vashon Field and Pond, the mostly out-of-town guests were treated to a stunning July wedding in the Pacific Northwest.
What I loved about Sally & Kurt’s Vashon Island Wedding
Sally and Kurt’s love for their furry doggo, JoJo, was featured on cocktail napkins adorned with a charming sketch of their beloved four-legged kiddo.
Instead of traditional escort cards, guests were treated to bottled olive oil made by the Kurt’s mother, with labels as their seating assignments.
We got lucky. Mount Rainier was out in all her glory on that sunny Seattle day. This set the stage for a spectacular sunset with alpenglow.
I’m not a dessert connoisseur but the cakes and sweet bites from Deep Sea Salt and Sugar bakery in Seattle was knock-your-socks-off YUM! I couldn’t help myself. Nobody else could either.
Every summer wedding needs an ice cream cart. Ice cream makes everyone happy.
And finally, Sally and Kurt–classy, kind, and just good humans. Connecting with my couples the way I connected with Sally and Kurt inspires me to work even harder to capture every moment of their special day.
5 Reasons to choose Vashon Field and Pond as your wedding venue:
A Magical Setting: Vashon Field and Pond offers the quintessential Pacific Northwest romantic backdrop for your special day. The venue boasts stunning waterfront views and, on clear days, the majestic presence of Mount Rainier. The alpenglow during sunset adds an extra touch of beauty that’s captured in breathtaking images on this blog.
On-site Accommodations: With two charming structures on-site, the venue can comfortably accommodate the bride & groom, and a select number of family members for overnight stays. This makes it ideal for hosting pre-wedding receptions or post-wedding brunches. The interiors are inviting and charming with ample light streaming through large windows making it picture perfect.
Spacious Property: Thanks to its expansive property, Vashon Field and Pond is equipped to host large weddings. Ample parking ensures convenience for your guests, and the property’s size allows guests to explore and enjoy the picturesque views without feeling crowded.
Flexibility: The Vashon Field and Pond wedding venue offers flexibility in terms of event size and layout, making it suitable for various wedding styles and themes. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, it can accommodate your vision.
Beautiful Photography Opportunities: I would be remiss not to mention photography. Your wedding photographer will have plenty of stunning backdrops to work with, capturing both the beauty of your wedding and the surrounding scenery.
5 Helpful tips when considering Vashon Field and Pond as your wedding venue:
Limited Island Accommodations: Accommodations on Vashon Island are primarily limited to Airbnb and VRBO rentals due to the absence of large or medium-sized hotels.
Ferry Schedule: The timing of your wedding guests arriving from off-island will heavily rely on the Washington State Ferry Schedule, which has recently experienced disruptions due to staffing shortages. This could result in delays or early departures from your wedding festivities. Many guests may have to be shuttled from the Vashon ferry terminal to your venue.
Noise Ordinance: Many wedding venues on Vashon Island are located in residential areas and are subject to noise ordinances, potentially requiring music to be stopped well before the dance party ends. However, you can opt for a Silent Disco to ensure the party continues without disturbance.
Additional Vendor Costs: Off-island vendors may charge extra. Their services could also be limited to or disrupted by ferry schedules.
Photography: Bright sunny days offer little shade at Vashon Field and Pond wedding venue. This poses challenges for flattering portraits, especially during the ceremony, bride & groom, wedding party, and family portraits. Hiring an experienced wedding photographer who can handle these lighting conditions is crucial. Additionally, during summer months, the grass will look brown and dry.
