Seattle Senior Pictures in the Winter

Senior year is a time to celebrate who you are, and for Sylvie, that meant a photo session that truly captured her spirit. She wanted something natural, down-to-earth, and reflective of her personality. Even though we were in the middle of January, we were treated to a stunning Seattle area sunset at Rattlesnake Lake —a perfect setting for her Skyline High School in Sammamish senior portraits.

Sylvie brought incredible energy and creativity to her session, even requesting a cartwheel to showcase her free-spirited nature. That moment, set against the breathtaking lake and soft winter light, was a perfect representation of her vibrant personality.

5 Things to Bring to Your Winter Senior Photo Shoot

If you’re planning your own senior session, here are five must-have items to bring along to make your experience even better:

  1. Layers for Comfort – Even if it’s a warm day, the weather can change quickly, especially in locations like Rattlesnake Lake. Bring a cozy jacket or a stylish layering piece to stay comfortable between shots.
  2. A Change of Outfits – Having at least one extra outfit gives you variety in your photos. Whether it’s a casual look and a dressier option or just different colors, changing it up can add depth to your gallery.
  3. Props That Represent You – Whether it’s a musical instrument, a favorite book, or even a fun pose like Sylvie’s cartwheel, adding a personal touch makes your photos feel even more authentic.
  4. Comfortable Shoes – Many scenic locations require some walking, so bring shoes you can move in easily. You can always switch to dressier shoes once we get to the perfect spot.
  5. Touch-Up Essentials – A small bag with a hairbrush, makeup for touch-ups, and even some blotting papers can keep you looking fresh throughout the session.

Sylvie’s session was a perfect reminder that the best senior photos reflect who you truly are. If you’re looking for a session that feels natural, fun, and uniquely you, let’s chat about making your senior portraits unforgettable!

Hey There!

I'm Tony Asgari, a Seattle-based photographer since 2009. While my specialty is wedding photography, I also offer high school senior portrait services. I photographed my first high school senior in 2011 and enjoyed it so much that it quickly became one of my favorite types of photography.

If you or someone you know is a high school senior in the Seattle area, let's connect. I would be honored to be a part of capturing this special milestone.
