Parsons Gardens Wedding in Seattle
About Parsons Gardens
Located in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood, Parsons Gardens is a hidden gem for intimate weddings. This historic garden, with its lush greenery, charming pathways, and vibrant flowers, creates a photogenic backdrop for a wedding that feels both secluded and magical.
Parsons Gardens is known to all Queen Anne locals for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty. When Kate and I lived on Queen Anne, we used to bring our dogs to Parsons Gardens and took in all the beauty. It’s only a few blocks down the same street from Highland Park which has the sweeping view of Mount Rainier and downtown Seattle.
I always wondered what it would be like to photograph a Seattle wedding at Parsons Gardens. I got my opportunity when Meng and Brent inquired about hiring me as their wedding photographer.
Intimate Seattle Wedding Ceremony at Parsons Gardens
Meng and Brent’s Seattle wedding was a sweet and intimate affair. They selected Parsons Gardens for their ceremony venue and the Center for Wooden Boats for their reception venue. They chose a simple and fresh color palette of peach, pink, and white for both the ceremony and reception.
Parsons Gardens was charmingly decorated with Chinese lanterns hanging from the trees and paper umbrellas lining the back row of chairs. Pink flower posies adorned the aisle chairs. The decor incorporated elements of Meng’s Chinese heritage, culminating in a ceremonial act of bowing to their parents, each other, and heaven as a sign of respect.
Wedding Reception at The Center for Wooden Boats
Guests were transported to the Center for Wooden Boats reception venue by trolley, arriving to a stunning view of Lake Union and MOHAI, hosted by the Center for Wooden Boats.
During the cocktail hour, a sketch artist provided caricatures of the guests against the backdrop of the famous Seattle view. Dinner was served al fresco on the deck under a canopy of café lights. A brief sprinkle of rain threatened to move the party indoors, but it passed quickly, allowing everyone to remain outside. I took advantage of the moody skies at sunset for some more couple photos with iconic Lake Union waterfront as the backdrop.
